A short history, an outline of the spirituality, essence and purpose of M.I. according to the writings and the spirit of the founder, St. Maximilian Maria Kolbe.
The Militia Immaculatae, or Knights of the Immaculata, is a worldwide Marian movement for the conversion of non-Catholics and the sanctification of Catholics, under the patronage and through the mediation of the Immaculate Virgin. It was founded by St. Maximilian Kolbe in 1917 as a transcendental movement to raise and include all Marian movements in response to the terrible forces arrayed against the Church in our times.

“Knight of the Immaculata” No. 39

The year 2025, which has just begun, is a special year for the Militia Immaculatæ. It marks a quarter of a century since, with the approval of the Superior General of the Society of St. Pius X, the M.I. was renewed according to the ideas and intentions of Fr. Maximilian Kolbe.
May this year be for you, dear Knights, a renewal of consecration to the Immaculata, the instigation of good resolutions and zealous apostolic work for the salvation of souls as an instrument of the Immaculata.

“Knight of the Immaculata” No. 40
Bishop Bernard Fellay, then Superior General allowed the establishment of the M.I. of the Traditional Observance in Poland. He did this in accordance with the principles of substitute jurisdiction. On the 6th of May 2000, about 50 Catholics became the first Knights of the Immaculate. They received a Diploma with a copy of St. Maximilian’s signature. The fruit was immediate: an increase in generosity among the Knights, a regular life of prayer and an apostolic spirit expressed especially in the intensive growth of publications of the Catholic Tradition in Poland (magazines, books, booklets, flyers).
